Home Prices Maintain Fast Growth in 3rd Quarter

Nationally total existing–home sales, including single family and condos, slipped 3.1 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.39 million in the third quarter from 5.56 million in the second quarter, but are still 0.2 percent higher than the 5.38 million pace during the third quarter of 2016.

At the end of the third quarter, there were 1.90 million existing homes available for sale, which was 6.4 percent below the 2.03 million homes for sale at the end of the third quarter in 2016. The average supply during the second quarter was 4.2 months – down from 4.6 months in the third quarter of last year.
